Hi All. I live in Windsor, ON, but have a home in Zephyrhills, FL. In Florida I keep a Mercury Sable LS. It is a 2005 and has yet to turn up 30 000 miles. To be honest, I am always amazed that after I connect the battery and the car has been sitting in FL, not driven in at least 7 months, it always starts immediately, as if I had just shut it off a few minutes earlier. Everything still works perfectly, and I really like the vehicle. In Canada I drive a Townie, and I think that I prefer the Sable. It sure is easier to park! I have "dressed" the car with the usual stuff that native Floridians do to their rides, chrome wheel arches, B pillars, sun shades, bug shield, and other minor stuff. Less is more. The tires are rotting in the heat. It is a common problem here, especially for the rubber on the Snowbird's cars. The sun is brutal on the tires and all other rubber parts. I have a carport that does offer some protection, and I cover the wheels while I am gone. Any other suggestions? I am looking forward to seeing what is going on and what to expect in the future with my ride.
